L and I have had a mighty fine time: played with family (and welcomed a new nephew into the world!!), spent time with friends, ate good food, visited amazing fabric stores, watched the Olympics, and just really enjoyed being here altogether. The air is thicker here, and a little bit damper. You can smell things growing when you breathe deeply, and it fills me up with life and freshness.
L, Grandma, and I went to feed the ducks at Oak Hill Park yesterday. Things went pretty well with the little bird brains until the Canadian geese showed up and started hissing at us, at which point I grabbed the stroller and fled. Check out the hairdo on the little guy to the right.
My sister gave birth to her beautiful fifth child this week (and like an idiot, I took no pictures of said beautiful child). All along, they thought it was going to be a girl. As the baby was being born, the doctor turned to my brother in-law and joked, "Ah, it's going to be a boy!" Then the baby was born and hey, presto! It really is a boy! Now she's trying to figure out what to do with all the cute new baby girl clothes she bought, washed, and put away...
There is a profusion of AMAZING fabric stores in the Bay Area (and of course I can't remember any of their names now). I snapped up some delicious Anna Maria Horner prints and am almost finished with a tasty little apron for cooking in next week. It makes me feel...yummy. (Hee hee!) More pictures when it's finished!
After L went to bed last night, I got to go play with Nicole and Dave, two old and dear friends. There was much eating of chocolate (Moonstruck is so lovely) and talking about deep things on the moonlit balcony at good old San Damiano until late-late.
I also got to (finally!) try Pho, the iconic Vietnamese noodle soup, at the lush Le Cheval, thanks to my big bro (muah!). It was TO DIE FOR, and if you're a Bay Area dweller, you should really really pick some up.
Tomorrow, we go home. I could stay another few days -- loving family, fluffy towels, and tasty refrigerator contents are hard to leave behind.

does this sister that just had a baby live in the bay area? i need newborns under 2 weeks to photograph and i'll be there this weekend...
Good call on steering clear of the geese! I had no idea their feathers fluffed up like that.
That picture of the 3 of you is adorable. This weekend as I was picking berries, and taking pictures in lavendar fields I thought, "Amanda would love Seattle." The air is a little damper here too. Or perhaps, we should all just move back to D-ville!
