The bias tape battle has been won! The proper usage of bias tape always eluded me until I found Angry Chicken's fabulous video tutorial. I even made my own with a bias tape maker I got from Red Rooster the other day!
It doesn't look totally great on me, but I learned so much making it and am excited to wear it anyway. It hides, as Angry Chicken likes to say, my "empty baby house." (Which is apparently quite prominent. Someone asked me yesterday if I was pregnant. When are people are going to realize that you should Never. Ask. That. Question. Ever?)
The pattern is Simplicity 4111 with cap sleeves. The altering went pretty well, but I think next time I will make the cap sleeves a little longer. The appliques on the bottom are ironed on with Pellon Wonder-Under (they will fray on the edges, but will stay put).
Tomorrow is Pioneer Day (a state holiday in Utah), so R, L, and I are hitting up the Scout's pancake breakfast in the early AM and hiking the Jardine Juniper Trail. Happy 24th of July, friends!

GASP! Someone asked YOU that? Golly, I was just going to comment on a previous post you'd made that you were looking quite good. Maybe they were wearing bifocals...
Absolutely Adorable! I love the choice in colors and the applique totally makes the shirt unique. Your sewing skills are sweet!
The nerve of some people asking A. if she's preggo! I'm with Jillian, they must've been wearing bifocals. Oi.
I just got a question like that too just because I'm wearing a loose fitting trapeze top!
Your top looks georgeous, especially the applique.
