Happy Fourth of July! We have been here, there, and everywhere these past few days. We're zonked and the day isn't even over yet!
Yesterday, I hit a major milestone: I sewed my very first piece of clothing from the ground up that is actually wearable! It's Simplicity 3835, and I am *so* excited to try more variations the pattern offers (see a ton of amazing ideas for the pattern here). I made mine a little too small, but will know better next time. And I love this fabric.
Yesterday evening, we had a little barbecue at Kim and Ben's campsite, some rollicking rounds of Settlers and Ticket to Ride, then booked it up the hill just in time to catch the fireworks (they do the fireworks here on the 3rd...don't try to figure out the logic behind that one because your head might explode). We put L down for the night at 8:30 but woke her up and put her in the stroller for the big booms at 10. Much to our surprise, she absolutely loved the fireworks and went straight back to bed without a peep!
This morning, the four of us loaded up at our Scout troop's annual Fourth of July breakfast (actually, Kim, Ben, L and I ate while R flipped hash browns for four hours), then drove to Bear Lake for the afternoon. There was much monkeying with styrafoam noodles and eating of sand.
Back home for showers and more games, then Kim and Ben left, and now R and I are winding down in preparation for a happy Saturday. I love three-day weekends.

That swimsuit is the cutest thing ever. She is such a happy baby. I am uber impressed with your seamstress ways and I'm very jealous that you have the tenacity to get after your projects. I'm glad you had a happy fourth.
I'm so impressed with your mad sewing skills. I try to sew but then I don't know the sewing lingo and try to take shortcuts (like not ironing...etc). And, button holes and zippers terrify me.
girl-love the shirt. i need to sew me some of those. and lizzy is so dang cute. love her little face. we're excited to see you guys in a month!
