Clafouti Me This

Big changes today in the life of A. Well, one big change.

In the LDS Church, there is no professional clergy; all positions -- or "callings," as they're called -- are filled by members of the congregation. So, every time you move to a new ward, or every few years, you can count on getting a new calling, whether it's teaching Sunday School, (wo)manning the library, or conducting the music. There isn't any vying for positions; the bishop prays to know where you should serve, asks you to do so, and you're free to accept or decline (although of course we believe it's good to accept!).

I've been serving in the Relief Society (the women's organization) for the past two and a half years, and have loved it. Today, the bishop called me in to issue a new calling: Young Women's advisor (laugh it up, Jentry)! I will miss Relief Society a ton, but I am so excited to be part of the YW again. It's going to be such a party.

We had Cherry Clafouti tonight for our Sunday night dessert. Neither of us had ever had clafouti before. Apparently it's a traditional French dessert, half custard and half cake. I made four individual clafoutis, and am currently debating whether I should indulge now or have my second one for breakfast in the morning...
